We have a late arrival in (aprx. 20:30) on the first of May for a five day visit.
Will it be hard to get to the hotel? Is it a bank holiday? Should we instead? We are staying outside the old city and I guess it will not be that busy at this time of the year, so parking shouldn’t be an issue.
We were hoping to use the for most of the days since we wanted to drive to and to. Is it better to get a for the full length of our stay? (Solving this way the airport transfer question) or is it better to get the for two days just to go to BiH and? Autoeurope gives me a rate of 270 euro for a Chevrolet spark can I get a better rate in Dubrovnik? Many questions, I know, thank you for your time and answers!!!Sorry it was 270 USD for the, not 270 euro!!! Just came back from on June 12th. I agree with the last poster: you do not need a to get around in the city - the city itself is small (you can virtually walk anywhere), there is a good and cheap bus service that takes you from the Old Town to all parts of the city (fare is little over 1 Euro) and you cannot even drive inside the Old Town.It is very helpful to travel around, Bosnia and the like (that is what I did).I rented my at Sixt at the. Sixt in Dubrovnik is horrible. I was charged €200 (for a 10 day rental, which means 40% of the value of the rental) in bogus insurances that I explicitly told them I didn't want. Staff was extremely rude and unhelpful.
In the end, it was a complete rip-off. I would NEVER use Sixt again and wouldn't recommend it to anyone. You have plenty of other options, especially if you rent at the airport. Sorry for not posting earlier a report. The was very convenient, since we had a relatively late arrival and the airport is not that close to where we stayed.
The ) had limited parking, but there were plenty of spaces at this part of the peninsula. If you intend to stay in or Ploce or Lapad and not do any daytrips, I don’t think that you really need a. Mind that later in the season, there might be terrible traffic jams, since it was already very busy at the beginning of May.Make sure that the has all costs covered (insurance etc) for entering into BiH.
If you go to for a daytrip, you will have to go through 12 passport checks in a day. But the route is amazing and definitively worth the drive. The only “incident” we had was when we were entering BiH for the second time, when after the passport control there was a policeman dressed in civilian clothing that we didn’t notice, who wanted us to stop.
There was a bit of confusion and he was cross because he thought that we were ignoring his “authority”. He kept us there for a few minutes talking to us in his native language, which we didn’t understand and then he let us go. We were very tempted to u-turn and never visit his country, but then we thought that it would be our loss.
Do go to Mostar, it is beautiful, much more touristy than you would imagine though and everything is at half the price than at the Croatian coast. The in Montenegro is amazing. First you have the route to the south which is very beautiful, then you reach the boarder where you will have to wait for a while, then you pay 10 euro for something that they call “Montenegro Environmental Tax Ten Euro” then you get chased by a couple of stray dogs for a few hundred meters, then you reach the probably ugliest town in the universe, and then. The bay of Kotor!!! Which is one of the most beautiful places that I have ever visited in my life! And I have seen a few. High mountains, beautiful little villages, green spots, old villas, apple trees next to the sea, little islands in the middle of the bay, just beautiful! You will be surprised by the number of tourists in town.

Make sure you have visited the village of on your way to Kotor. When leaving Kotor, if you take a right turn at the roundabout (or traffic light, I can’t remember) and follow the coastal road, it will take you for 12-15 km through beautiful scenery to the ferry port, where you can take a little ferry back to the other side of the bay, next to “uglytown”Montenegro has the Euro as its official currency, even though it doesn’t belong to the euro zone.
A trick that we might do in as well, if we are eventually forced out of the Euro! In BiH they have the Mark, but you can pay in Kunas and Euros where ever you need to.EasyRent was ok, Mihajlo was friendly and the price he gave us was very fair. We got an upgrade, paying for a category B’ and getting a Renault Megane. The was new and very convenient. Although in Dubrovnik, the smaller the the fewer the chances of getting it scratched. I didn’t like the way we were received by Mihajlo’s colleague when we were returning the, who without ever having seen us before, was asking questions in a bossy way about a scratch that was clearly marked in the contract.
Then he tried to correct it some how by commenting on the financial crisis in Greece. I mean, come on give us a break and respect us like you do with every other paying customer, when you are in the tourism trade, you just don’t do things like that. Keep your opinion to your self.
Other than that, I wouldn’t mind recommending EasyRent to any one who is interested in in Dubrovnik, as long as it is Mihajlo who does all the talking.
